Humm, I'm new to blogging and heard from one reader that she couldn't leave a comment, so I've mikled about with the comment settings ...... let's see if it's more user-friendly now?
I thought by listing myself as a "friend" I would make the first comment! Anyway, guess this isn't a pissing contest, is it? :) Glad to see this. You write great, newsy e-mails to us all from time to time. This way, it is just as intimate, but there is a record in one place of all your entries. By the way, you've set up the comments exactly the way my daughter-in-law has hers, so it SHOULD work.
Yes, it IS a pissing contest, Marcia! I wanted to be first! Ha! Anyway, here is something I find to be very remarkable. My husband turned 70 yesterday, and in just the past year his political views have changed completely. I grew up with parents who believed in one political party's views, and they stuck with them. I have been a Democrat all of my life, and I didn't really think that people would change much. But I have watched my Republican husband totally embrace the views and policies of the Democratic party at the age of 70. Today he told me that he thought Hillary Clinton did a great job fielding David Gregory's questions on Meet the Press. Not a lot of philosophical thought here. Just something that I think is quite remarkable. Old dog, new tricks. It gives me hope.

Mary: fascinating (and belated H B'day to Ernie) posting, maybe Ernie's 'getting wiser' as he gets older, too ?!
